Thunder Woman
Instrumentation: American Indian flutes, percussion, piano, violin, cello Thunder Woman, based a poem by Anishinabe poet Marcie R. Rendon, was commissioned for Manitou Project of Bari, Italy. The poem is dynamic and full of energy and movement, which is how I wanted the music to feel. A loping 15/8 pattern has an elliptical spin to it that seems to run right alongside her, along with the “stomp” of the final 6/8. Underwritten by the American Composers Forum with funds provided by the Jerome Foundation.
