Instrumentation: unison choir, shruti box Ave Maria is a chant accompanied by drone, which can be repeated an indefinite number of times. The text is the principle cyclical prayer in the Rosary of the Catholic Church. The mode shifts midway through the piece though the drone remains the same, creating a compelling tension and imploring quality to the petition that is then released as the piece is repeated and returns to the opening mode.
