I Woman
Instrumentation: SSAA women's choir; narrator I Woman is part of a collaboration between myself and Jamaican-born poet, prose writer and storyteller, Opal Palmer Adisa. The piece is written in a celebratory vocal jazz/gospel style, and includes a striking section with spoken word. A narrator speaks one stanza of the poem while the choir sings a bluesy 2-part repeating vamp. Our focus for this work is to “explore female culture with an eye for finding the thread that connects women across racial, class, and political lines.” Adisa SDPC 120 01 $2.50/copy |
