Instrumentation: string quartet Petals Finding Water is a slowly evolving, shifting texture – with harmonics rubbing against each other, dropping to low pizz, repetition and color changes, sweeps that vanish, momentum felt like an undercurrent. There is a quality of searching, with moments of coalescing and discovery. Composed in celebration of the Robert Craft Millikan Cancer Epidemiology Fund and Award, Petals Finding Water, honors scientific research and excellence in the field of cancer epidemiology.
