My Island
Instrumentation: Tenor, piano My Island is the setting of a poignant poem by Cuban-American writer Jorge Aquino – longing for a homeland he never knew. Written in one movement with multiple sections, this expressive piece is richly melodic and dramatic, exploiting the full range of the tenor voice. The tonal center is continually shifting, though well supported by the piano accompaniment.
